Already with plenty of official recognition, including membership of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux, 1 Michelin Star and 3 AA Rosettes for food and 4 AA Red Stars, the family and team are incredibly proud to have been voted Hotel of the Year by the AA (2011-2012), the English Tourist Board (2011-2012), the Cateys (2012-2013) and Condé Nast Johansens (2013).

Awards

Food – Guests & Staff

We have held 3 AA rosettes for over 17 years, and specialise in fine dining. Our food is imaginative and enticing, and each dish has a carefully matched wine. There are no weddings, functions or conferences at Gilpin; the restaurant is exclusively fine dining with an average of 48 covers per night.

We also have a dedicated staff café serving home-cooked fresh food for all staff on duty (free!).

Staff Accommodation

We have fantastic subsidised staff accommodation at very reasonable rates, from £120-£330 per month including bills.

Spa

We have membership of the Old England Spa which staff are welcome to use. Facilities includes a 20 metre swimming pool, gym, steam room, sauna, ice room and aromatherapy shower.

CHEF DE PARTIE / COMMIS / BREAKFAST CHEF

We are looking for chefs at the lovely Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, nestled in Lake District near Windermere. The kitchen has grown and exciting plans have been put in motion allowing us to serve fine and casual dining under one roof. Due to this expansion more positions have been created – chefs de partie and commis pastry chef. The kitchen is progressive and we are looking forward to the new challenges.

SALES & RESERVATIONS TEAM

We are looking for a Reservations Agent and a Sales & Reservations Deputy Manager to join our small sales dynamic team, with good sales systems experience, an eye for detail, and a warm friendly approach to guests. Candidates for theSales & Reservations Deputy Manager will also need leadership experience.

The role is highly team and guest focused and needs friendly, organised people with a professional approach, great administration and written skills, and an excellent eye for detail. A warm, kind telephone manner, followed by a meticulous booking and an effervescent welcome to one of our 31 spectacular rooms ensures that our guests are excited about their stay.

Anna Maria Dunne, Sales & Marketing Manager

WAITING STAFF

We are looking for Waiting Staff to join our fabulous restaurant team. Candidates should have extremely high standards, and be friendly, charming, enthusiastic, well presented, with good manners, attention to detail, good communication skills, and good English.

We have two restaurants at Gilpin:

‘Hrishi’ The Michelin starred restaurant where Hrishikesh Desai’s imaginative dishes combine great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver modern British dishes with a twist of Asia, with unbelievable textures and flavours.

‘Gilpin Spice’ – An informal restaurant with funky décor, an open kitchen and a menu of sharing dishes from countries along the spice trail, from the Indian sub-continent to the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and China.
