Food – Guests & Staff

In the Michelin starred, AA 3 Rosette restaurant, ‘Hrishi’, Hrishikesh combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours with just a twist of Asia.

‘Gilpin Spice’ is our new informal restaurant transcending international boundaries, with an open kitchen focussing on sharing dishes from the spice trail spanning the Indian sub-continent to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and China.

We also have a dedicated staff café serving home-cooked fresh food for all staff on duty (free!).

Staff Accommodation

We have fantastic subsidised staff accommodation at very reasonable rates.


We have membership of the Old England Spa which staff are welcome to use. Facilities includes a 20 metre swimming pool, gym, steam room, sauna, ice room and aromatherapy shower.


We are looking for full or part time concierge who are happy to work evenings and weekends, preferably holding an SLDC Private Hire Licence.

Candidates should be smart, friendly, charming, enthusiastic, with gracious manners, attention to detail, good communication skills, and fluent English. All aspects of the role are very guest focused. The concierge role includes welcoming guests, checking guests in and out, parking guests’ cars, dealing with luggage and administrative tasks, and the chauffeur duties involve chauffering guests in Gilpin’s luxury cars between Gilpin Hotel & Gilpin Lake House, and keeping the cards immaculate.

Lesley McCanney, Reception & Reservations Manager


We are looking for a Reception & Reservation Deputy Manager to support our Front Office Manager leading the reception, reservations and concierge team. The role is highly guest focused and needs a meticulously organised person with leadership experience, a warm friendly approach to guests, professional and friendly telephone and written skills, an excellent eye for detail, systematic administration skills, and great management and training ability.

The housekeeping department at Gilpin is a busy, friendly team where attention to detail is hugely important. Candidates should have extremely high standards, and be friendly, charming, enthusiastic, well presented, with good manners, and good English. The positions are full time, live in or out, with 28 days paid holiday, an excellent package with all meals on duty provided, and fantastic subsidised local staff accommodation.

We are looking for Waiting Staff to join our fabulous restaurant team. Candidates should have extremely high standards, and be friendly, charming, enthusiastic, well presented, with good manners, attention to detail, good communication skills, and good English.

We have two restaurants at Gilpin:

‘Hrishi’ The Michelin starred restaurant where Hrishikesh Desai’s imaginative dishes combine great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver modern British dishes with a twist of Asia, with unbelievable textures and flavours.

‘Gilpin Spice’ – An informal restaurant with funky décor, an open kitchen and a menu of sharing dishes from countries along the spice trail, from the Indian sub-continent to the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and China.

We are looking for chefs at the lovely Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, nestled in Lake District near Windermere. The kitchen has grown and exciting plans have been put in motion allowing us to serve fine and casual dining under one roof. Due to this expansion more positions have been created – chefs de partie and commis pastry chef. The kitchen is progressive and we are looking forward to the new challenges.
