Already with plenty of official recognition, including membership of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux, 1 Michelin Star, 3 AA Rosettes for food and 4 AA Red Stars, the family and team are incredibly proud to have been voted Hotel of the Year by the AA (2011-2012), the English Tourist Board (2011-2012), the Cateys (2012-2013) and Condé Nast Johansens (2013).

Food – Guests & Staff

 

In the Michelin starred, AA 3 Rosette restaurant, ‘Hrishi’, Hrishikesh combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours with just a twist of Asia.

‘Gilpin Spice’ is our new informal restaurant transcending international boundaries, with an open kitchen focussing on sharing dishes from the spice trail spanning the Indian sub-continent to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and China.

We also have a dedicated staff café serving home-cooked fresh food for all staff on duty (free!).

Staff Accommodation

We have fantastic subsidised staff accommodation at very reasonable rates, from £120-£330 per month including bills.

Spa

We have membership of the Old England Spa which staff are welcome to use. Facilities includes a 20 metre swimming pool, gym, steam room, sauna, ice room and aromatherapy shower.

RECEPTION MANAGER

We are looking for a Reception Manager to lead our reception and concierge team.

The role is highly guest focused and needs a meticulously organised person with leadership experience, a warm friendly approach to guests, professional and friendly telephone and written skills, an excellent eye for detail, systematic administration skills, and great management and training ability.

SPA THERAPISTS

We are looking for full and part time level 3 qualified Spa Therapists, ideally in Aromatherapy, Hot Stones, Indian Head, Facials, Manicure, Pedicure & Gel Application. The ideal candidate will be well presented with excellent communication skills, will need to enjoy working in a team and love doing massage. Previous experience is preferable, as is your own transport.

Naturally the job involves weekend work. We offer 28 days holiday, meals whilst on duty and provide uniform. We take great pride in offering our guests professional treatments in a simply stunning location – the Jetty Spa is based at Gilpin Lake House & we also offer treatments in the new Spa Lodges at Gilpin Hotel.

DEPUTY HEAD HOUSEKEEPER

We are looking for a Deputy Head Housekeeper with extremely high standards. The housekeeping department at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is a busy, friendly team where attention to detail is hugely important. Candidates should have extremely high standards, be comfortable running the department in the absence of the Head Housekeeper, be able to communicate with other departments where necessary and help ensure that the hotel is spotless and the team are working well together. We are looking for someone with genuine enthusiasm for their job who is well presented, with good manners, and good English.

The position is full time to include weekends, with 28 days paid holiday, an excellent package with all meals on duty provided.

LAUNDRY ASSISTANT

We are seeking a Laundry Assistant with extremely high standards. The housekeeping department at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is a busy, friendly team where attention to detail is hugely important. You should be a proactive worker, and able to work on your own initiative. The position is full time, 5 days a week to include some weekends, hours ideally around 11-5pm but could be negotiable.

WAITING STAFF

We are looking for Waiting Staff to join our fabulous restaurant team. Candidates should have extremely high standards, and be friendly, charming, enthusiastic, well presented, with good manners, attention to detail, good communication skills, and good English.

We have two restaurants at Gilpin:

‘Hrishi’ The Michelin starred restaurant where Hrishikesh Desai’s imaginative dishes combine great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver modern British dishes with a twist of Asia, with unbelievable textures and flavours.

‘Gilpin Spice’ – An informal restaurant with funky décor, an open kitchen and a menu of sharing dishes from countries along the spice trail, from the Indian sub-continent to the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and China.
