Head chef Daniel Grigg blends traditional British flavours in a light, imaginative way, with exquisite ingredients that speak for themselves; his Table d’Hôte Menu celebrates some of the finest Lake District produce and West Coast seafood. There is one restaurant but four dining rooms, each with it’s own character and style, as well as the lounge, bar and terraces. Every table has fresh flowers, candles at night, crisp white linen, fine china and glass, and gleaming silver.
We have carefully matched wines to go with each dish, and invite you to wander into the walk-in wine cellars where you can browse over 200 wines from 13 countries. Our wine list is built on interest rather than ancient vintages at astronomic prices, and our house wines are excellent quality and value.
We are open to residents and non-residents for all meals, on every day of the year – breakfast, lunch, light lunches, morning coffee, afternoon tea, dinner… or just come in and have a look around!
Dan Grigg joined Gilpin as Head Chef in September 2012.
Private Dining
Perhaps bring family or colleagues for a celebration?
We have private dining rooms which seat either twelve, twenty or twenty-six people, and will happily devise personalised menus – for lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, even breakfast! We are happy to take orders on the day for up to ten in a party, for up to fifteen people we do ask guests to pre-order, and for parties of over sixteen people our chef will create a bespoke set menu for you.
For guests booking the Lake House for exclusive use, the chef will create a bespoke set menu for your party (up to 26 people).
Dining at Gilpin over Christmas and New Year
We are of course also open to non-residents for all meals, including The Christmas Day Feast, Boxing Day lunch, and our New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner, with live music in the Champagne Bar afterwards.
