Buttermere, like Thirlmere, is slightly different being split level, which gives it an extra depth. The patio doors face west onto the croquet lawn and llama paddock. A pond and waterfall to the north of the croquet lawn can be seen, and this is a perfect spot to read. This room gets full sunshine from mid afternoon and is wonderful to watch the sunset, and also has a large window to the east so enjoys light at all times of the day. At the side of Buttermere is a wonderful rockery with predominantly Japanese heathers.
