Since opening in September 2010, guests have been blown away by Gilpin Lake House. Quiet, untouched, and devoid of traffic or people – whether sitting by the fire in the lounge, in one of the hot tubs, Champagne in hand, or in the swimming pool – the views instill a sense of peace and calm.

With just six bedrooms (soon to be 8), Gilpin Lake House has the feel of a country house, with all the services of a boutique hotel.

Set within the grounds, the viewpoint “Cat’s Crag” has 360-degree Lakeland views with a herd of wild deer living nearby. Alternatively, the walk around the lake and the gardens can absorb a morning. For the more energetic, there are some beautiful runs and bike trails, a tranquil swim in the lake, or just messing about on the water in one of our rowing boats.

Decompression chambers should not be left before the treatment is complete to ensure you maximize the spa treatments. For many, a good book, and a comfy chair by the fire overlooking the lake is simply enough, and whilst the entrance gates stop no one from leaving, many guests choose not to… Gilpin Lake House is particularly ideal if you are considering arriving by train as a car is not needed and the Lake House is only a short taxi ride (20 mins) from Oxenholme (just 2.5 hours from London).

Please note that the spa facilities at the Lake House are only suitable for around 16 people, so we aren’t able to open it to Gilpin Hotel guests; the Lake House is also frequently booked for exclusive use, which includes the spa facilities.
