Staying at Gilpin Lake House
Since opening in September 2010, guest have been blown away by the Lake House. One couple commented “it’s like a decompression chamber for stress – you simply feel your body relax”. Six individual suites share a fully staffed boutique hotel with bar, dining room, lounge, swimming pool and lake…
The spa includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna and hot tub with distinct advantages. Even assuming the Lake House is full, it is shared at most by 6 couples; more often than not, you will have it all to yourself as residents tend to use the facilities at different times during the day (the pool, sauna and hot tub are open from 8am until 8pm). Also, as with the rest of the house, the spa overlooks a stunningly beautiful private lake surrounded by woodland. Our delightful therapists can be booked for fantastic treatments in the privacy of your room.
Quiet, untouched, and devoid of traffic or people, whether sitting by the fire in the lounge, or in the cedar wood hot tub, Champagne in hand, or in the swimming pool, the view instils a sense of peace and calm.
Set within 100 acre of grounds, the viewpoint “Cat’s Crag” has 360 degree Lakeland views with a herd of wild deer living nearby. Alternatively the walk around the lake and the gardens can absorb a morning. For the more energetic, there are some beautiful runs and bike trails, coarse fishing for the initiated, even a swim in the lake, or just mess about on the water in one of our rowing boats.
Decompression chambers should not be left before the treatment is complete, and whilst the entrance gates stop no one from leaving, many guests choose not to. For many, a good book, a comfy chair by the fire overlooking the lake is simply enough. The Lake House is particularly ideal if you are considering arriving by train as a car is not needed and the Lake House is only a short taxi ride (20 mins) from Oxenholme (just 2.5 hours from London). Our complimentary chauffeur drives guests to the main hotel and back for dinner.
