Wooden hot tub overlooking Knipe Tarn at Gilpin Lake House, surrounded by green gardens, woodland and a red-leaved tree.

LAKE HOUSE MASTER

ELEGANT COUNTRY HOUSE CHARM…

‘Gertie’ has magnificent views of the countryside to the north, and to the east down the Lyth Valley, reaching as far as the Morecambe Bay coast on a clear day; watching the sun rise through this misty valley is a perfect start to the day, accompanied by a cup of tea in bed. Another large window shows distant views over the Shap mountains, often snow clad in winter; in the foreground enjoy the kitchen gardens, with vibrant coloured flowers grown for the hotel.
‘Maud’ is a lovely large room, with views down the Lyth Valley to the east, and a Juliet balcony looking south over Knipe Tarn. Being on the first floor, the views extend beyond the woodland surrounding the lake and across the Lake House grounds. A great vantage point to observe the aerial acrobatics of the bats at dusk as they swoop over the lake. Maud also has a fabulous feature fireplace. Please note that whilst the room is large, the bathroom is small and does not have a bath.
‘Beatrice’ has two velux windows as well as a large window to the west over the surrounding woodland. This room also has a small adjoining bedroom, ideal for a child (or two at a push), or as an office if you really do need to bring work with you.
‘Ethel’ is slightly smaller than the other three, but has one of the most delightful views over Knipe Tarn with a Juliet balcony.
