Hrishikesh’s experience includes training and working at the Institute Paul Bocuse, Les Maison de Bricourt (2*), Le Chateau do Bagnol (1*), French Laundry (3*), and Lucknam ‘The Park’ (1*). Executive Head Housekeeper: 

At Gilpin we also look after each other, with each head of department (HOD) encouraged to take care of their teams – not just as employees, but as individual people. Our HODs have frequent informal chats with their staff so that they’re aware of any personal issues they may be dealing with, whether they are away from home and live in staff accommodation, or live elsewhere and may have families and other responsibilities. Likewise our HODs are a team in themselves, and look to each other for support and guidance when needed. For us the ‘team’ is the very core of Gilpin, so we spend a lot of time and energy trying to ensure that we have a happy and harmonious team throughout the hotel.

Amongst other things, your days will entail…

  • Morning debriefs with your team, to ensure that they are set for the day ahead
  • Training – teaching techniques to make the best of our beautiful rooms
  • Checking – checking every room to ensure standards are kept at the very highest level, and helping them out if needed
  • Maintenance – liasing with the Gilpin maintenance team to make sure everything works perfectly, as well as with outside contractors for window cleaning, carpet and upholstery cleaning etc.
  • Managing the housekeeping rota and holidays
  • Managing guest laundry, housekeeping stock, staff accommodation
  • Ensuring that procedures and relevant electronic checklists are completed to keep documentation up to date.
  • Engaging with guests and colleagues in other areas of the hotel throughout the day

We are looking for a Laundry Assistant who is at, or is willing to train to, 5 star level. Hours can be flexible

The role requires:

  • Extremely high standards of cleanliness and organisation
  • A team player
  • The ability to support our busy housekeeping team during the day
  • Understanding how to wash and dry different fabrics
  • Stock control ability
  • Efficient time keeping

The stunning Gilpin Lake House Jetty Spa is set on the beautiful private four-acre lake. Designed with couples in mind, the Swedish style spa treatment room has been built to blend with the environment, raised 3 metres into the tree canopy, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake. We also offer treatments in the new spa lodges at Gilpin Hotel, (1 mile away) therefore it is preferable to have your own transport.

Candidates should be level 3 qualified ideally in Aromatherapy, Hot Stones, Indian head, facials, manicure & pedicure & gel application. The ideal candidate will be well presented with excellent communication skills, will need to enjoy working in a team and love doing massage, previous experience would be preferable. Naturally the job involves weekend work. We offer meals whilst on duty and provide uniform. We take great pride in offering our guests professional treatments in a simply stunning location.

Our team is made up of full and part time positions where the team work a combination of weekdays, evenings and weekends. The department covers Reception, Reservations, Concierge and Night Managers (see below for more details on each position).

All aspects of the role are very guest focused. Training can be provided, so specific experience is not always necessary. Conversely, enthusiasm, attention to detail, excellent English and a love of the hotel industry are a huge advantage!

Key Accountabilities:

Assisting the heads of departments in:

  • Managing the day to day functions of the department
  • Managing staff schedules
  • Managing budgets
  • Management of maintenance in the hotel rooms and other areas
  • Handling customer complaints and queries
  • Promoting and marketing the business
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and licensing laws.
  • Staff Management and Training

Required Skills:

  • Good customer service is able to deal with guests, suppliers and internal staff ensuring effective relationships are developed
  • Willingness to listen and respond to complaints from guests and staff members
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Good leadership skills to be able to assist in overseeing and motivating other members of the team.
  • Good written skills, able to accurately prepare documents and schedules

GYM MEMBERSHIP

We have membership of the Choices Health Club in Troutbeck Bridge which staff are welcome to use. Facilities includes a swimming pool, gym, steam room, sauna and hot tub.

TAKING PRIDE

Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is a 5 star hotel which is family owned and run, with a great team and a friendly environment. We are all very proud of Gilpin, and aim to do our absolute best in everything we do.

STAFF ACCOMMODATION

We have fantastic subsidised shared staff accommodation, some at the hotel, some in the countryside, and some in the centre of Windermere. In all accommodation there is a shared kitchen and lounge area, and some have added extras such as a pool table, dart board and X-box… We spring clean and paint your room before you move in, meet you, show you around, and settle you in with a welcome pack.
